Adrian remembered it a lot differently, but he hadn’t been in it. It had felt like this, like she was being erased from a lover’s heart so thoroughly he didn’t even care she was beating him.
He dragged himself out of the feelings and walked closer to the ring. There was a bell there, nothing more than a decorative touch. The Moroi took their battles for supremacy seriously, and most of them thought MMA fighting was tacky. Referees were for sport, and this was a sacred honour. He didn’t see a whole lot of difference, except for the teenager fighting a man three times her size and winning.
