Summary
Set post-Caracas sometime towards the end of Tin Man Is Down.
In the scene with Julia, Quinn says he had no one to talk to that would actually care and all I could think was "Good gracious, he didn't even consider calling Carrie." And it broke my heart a bit.
So here's me making it right, because the scene with Julia was deleted and somehow Carrie knew about Caracas in season 4.

Summary
"She loved her daughter, and she loved defending America. She loved defending America, and she defied CIA orders in favor of a joyride around Afghanistan with a GRU agent. Sometimes one truth had to win out over the other, but usually she had no trouble holding onto two opposing facts, one in each hand.
Currently, in Moscow: she’s in exile, and she’s feeding America valuable intelligence. She loves Yevgeny, and she’s lying to him."

“Do you love him?”
She wraps whatever she’s wearing tighter around her. “He’s a good man.”
She can’t see his face but in her mind’s eye she knows exactly what it looks like in this moment.
“Really, Carrie? Really? A ‘good man’? He’s a fucking enemy combatant responsible for countless deaths on your side.”
“We’re all enemy combatants to someone.”
“So that’s a no, then.”
“That’s a none-of-your-fucking-business.” -

Summary
Sometimes, between the lines, the tracery of branches above their heads in the birch forest, she paints. In colors. Some old, like fallow yellow for after Baghdad, orange and red for before Iran, green and blue for the blur that came after, various shades of purple for the madness that led to right now. Some new, like deep copper smudged over her dreams and her waking hours, like chasm of brown of what’s - maybe - to come, like glacier blue that bleeds over the space where she pushes the line just a tiny bit further, every time, streaks of steely, glacier blue.

"A book, of course, has the added benefit of being a perfect cover to shield her from suspicion, to finally shake her Russian surveillance detail and set her up to develop assets. If she has to destroy every remaining shred of goodwill she has with the US intelligence community, at least she can benefit from it later.
And wasn’t that what Saul taught her, that the long game was the most important thing above all else? That self-sacrifice was worthwhile if you later had something to show for it?"
A reflection on motherhood, legacy, and Carrie's first few months in Moscow.

The world loses color and his sense of touch is heightened."
