Summary
“I wanted to get on top of you,” she says, wiping her mouth on the back of her hand, “but we would have ripped your stitches. Figured this was a better idea.”
“It was a fucking /great/ idea,” he says, still a little breathless. She joins him, pleased with herself. She’s laying on her back as well, the two of them staring at the ceiling. He sighs, spent.
“How did we go for so long without giving in to this?” she asks him.
“I drank. A lot.”
“Yeah, I did too.”
“I was so angry,” he adds, quieter now. “Misplaced energy.”
“I know what you mean,” she agrees. In hindsight she can see how a lot of their bickering was just that, repressed sexual tension.
“Half the place already thought we were fucking when I was working for you in Islamabad. Should have just gone ahead with it.”
“They did?”
“Sure,” he nods. “Though most of them had the good sense not to say anything directly to me, so I didn’t have to fight anybody.”

Summary
At first, there's a lot of paperwork. Dar Adal pulls some serious strings to get her declared Quinn’s … person. Next of kin this, power of attorney that, executor something. She has already forgotten most of what she's signed. Adal's people are some small help, accustomed as they are to moving people from the asset list to the casualties and liabilities columns.

Summary
Part One:
The story starts in Season 5 as Quinn and Carrie are leaving the storage facility having secured her backup plan. At the end of Season 4, Dar Adal did not help Haqqani escape and Saul did not betray Carrie, but he is disappointed with her decision to leave the Agency and work with Otto During. Otto is not romantically interested in Carrie. There is no jihadist sarin gas plot.Parts Two And Three:
The plot is sort of an alternate version of S6 and S7, reimagined without Quinn having been exposed to sarin gas and being, you know, alive.COMPLETE

Summary
This is post-season 4 re-imagined. In this, Carrie manages to successfully blackmail Dar, Saul is not a traitor, Quinn comes back home after two missions, and the aftermath of what happens when they see each other again. Navigating the domestic normalcy of life without a life-risking mission around every bend is something I've always wanted to see Quinn and Carrie do, so I fixed the ending of season 4 to show what I imagine would have happened between them.

CHAPTER 4 BACK IS NEW. UPDATED ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2020
Post season 6, canon compliant story where Quinn survives season 6 finale and, with some help, manages to get a chance at that elusive normal life he's always wanted. Away from the Agency and the missions, for a little over three years he's been working hard to rebuild his health, keep a job, and try to live out the rest of his life doing some good, with no hope or agenda aside from finding a small, well-deserved measure of peace.
That is until something happens, and he realizes he was a fool to believe he could escape the pull of the darkness. Reassured once again he has no place among normal people, he's determined to go back to the person he was before, leaving everything he's built in the last three years behind. He does so believing he's keeping a promise to an old friend. Until he realizes he's been trying to keep the wrong promise, and is forced to stay, step up, face his demons, and deal with them.

Summary
If Quinn had still been in Syria when Carrie visited with Otto During, this is something I keep imagining could happen. After all, they missed each other by a few days, right? He came back to Berlin right before she went there, what are the odds? When she was crying in that bathroom, all I could think of was "Where's Quinn when you need him?"
I plan to make this a multi-chapter story if I don't get sidetracked by the 10 other fics I'm drafting based on Carrie/Quinn. THERE'S SO MANY WHAT-IFS IN THEIR STORY!
