All the hatred that had built up inside Lawrie disappeared, replaced by a painful anguish that gripped his entire chest. Robots didn't have feelings, that was a mistake. It was just very distressing and made the oil inside him want to overflow through the space between his eye and the metal beneath it.
Chester noticed this and cracked a small smile, sliding his hand down until it touched Lawrie's.
“Happy Halloween, Law,” Chester said. The genuine tone used made Lawrie have to hold back so that dark tears didn't flow from his eyes.
“You're...” Lawrie turned his face away, sighing deeply, “Complicated and frustrating. Why don't I just put you behind bars?”
