Warlock wakes up tired. It’s been a wild couple of days, what with his chaotic birthday party, and then the traveling to the middle east, and then moving to America with hardly any prompting. So Warlock is tired, and a little bit miserable.
Scowling, he opens his eyes, and takes in the peach-colored bedsheets he’d been too bleary-eyed to look at last night. His gaze travels across the room, over the light wood of the dresser and end table, and over the lacy white curtains that cover the window. It looks like an old people room, and of course it is. He’s at his grandparents’ house in Maryland, in their guest room. Before his parents had dropped him off and headed into Washington D.C. last night, they’d told him that he’d been here once before, when he was small; Warlock doesn’t remember it, though, and he only knows his grandparents through phone calls on birthdays and holidays.
