"He is exasperating, isn't he?" Hux asked her, his tone almost amused, yet also irritated. "I assume, due to his frequent flier miles in my mind, that he's found me that way. However, your mystic heritage isn't an area of expertise, or interest, of mine."
She wasn't sure she believed him, but his mind was perfectly calm, and his face stoic.
"He sounded almost as fond of you, as you just did of him." She guessed. "As co-commanders you must spend a great deal of time together."
"You'd think." Hux smirked at her. "He's rather absent in his duties."

In captivity Poe, Finn, Rose and BB-8 make an unexpected ally in General Hux, who is getting kept here for a show trial later. Plotting their escape, the rebels and the traitor have to rely on each other. They have to work together again when the people of a world subjugated by the First Order ask for their help dealing with a Star Destroyer in exchange for hiding them from their pursuers.
So far, so well. But can the unexpected bond survive those few days of having a shared goal? And is it really friendship, that’s beginning to grow between the General and a certain ace pilot, or something more primeval?

If he’d still been on the Finalizer, he would have had more options. He knows that ship like the back of his hand. That’s probably why Ren insisted he move with Ren to the Steadfast, and then ordered him to functionally serve as an ornament just behind Pryde, in reach of authority but with no power and no responsibilities of note. If he was meant to feel stifled and impotent, congratulations to them, the maneuver had been a resounding success.
But that had been foolish too. If he’d had something to do he wouldn’t have had nearly so much time to plan.

When a clever technician leaks some footage of Supreme Leader Ren leading a boarding action on an enemy ship and looking like a complete badass while doing it onto the Finalizer's internal network, the video goes viral and comes to General Hux's attention. It might actually be beneficial to leave it up for the sake of improving morale in the wake of Snoke's death, but first Hux has to take a look and make sure it's fit for public consumption.
He doesn't expect to be quite so impressed... Or quite so turned on.
