Living in a world of oppression and decay, Berach couldn't just stand by. Alrest was dying and yet imperialism was throttling everything good that still existed. Someone had to stand up, someone had to say no. He was going to bring the people up, no matter the destruction that would result. It would be worth the destruction of the chains. No one would stop him or the Forevermore Roots. Not the Special Inquisitor of Mor Ardain, not the Prince of Tantal, not the worthless remnants of Torna....and certainly not the Aegises, those traitors to life.
Follow Berach, and his comrades, as they encounter the heroes and villains of Alrest, and become a threat that can rival them all....though perhaps an old friend can settle his wrathful soul before he goes down a path he cannot escape from.

On one fateful day, four Core Crystals disappear from the land of Alrest, reappearing in a place called Paradise City. Fate leads them to the hands of four aspiring Duelists- Yuya Sakaki, Zuzu Boyle, Gong Strong, and Sylvio Sawatari, and causes them to suddenly disappear, ending up in Alrest. As they suddenly bond with the Blades that they know nothing about and learn about the new world around them, they set off to accomplish their new goals- find each other, find new allies, and find a way home.
