Summary
The customer—Mayfeld—seems to be sizing him up. His eyes narrow as he scrutinizes the nametag on Din’s apron, which reads ‘Mando.’
“Don’t you have to put your real name on there?”
“It’s not required.”
“What, so I won’t have your name to make a complaint? ‘The guy in the Mando helmet’ isn’t specific enough to identify you?”
“If you want to make a complaint, we have comment cards next to the register.”
“Oh right, like anyone is going to read that and do a damn thing. I should leave a negative review online is what I should fuckin’ do. Hit you where it hurts.”
“If you fill out a card, I’ll bring up your complaint at the next managers’ meeting.”
“Oh, so you want me to make a complaint now? Here, give me one of those.” He takes the card and pen Mando offers him, and fills it out. “The. Coffee. Here. Is. Shit. There you go. Hope you’re happy. Hope you can sleep at night charging five bucks for that.”
“I refunded your money.”
“Yeah, and I’ve still got fuck-all to drink and no time to get anything else before work, so...off to a great start. Have a nice fuckin’ day, Mando.”
(Or, how an asshole customer changes Din Djarin's life forever.)
