Summary
The Neverseen have many ways of sensing what is going on in the world; they are privy to all sorts of secret information.
Even to goings-on in some of the Forbidden Cities, which barely interested any elves. The Council, more fool they, thought that humans could never be useful to elves.But when the Neverseen detected strange disturbances, and pieced together the story: that a human boy had made contact with the dead and actually spoken to them...
Well, they would be fools not to learn as much about that encounter as they could. Imagine if they could speak to their dead. Brant, Umber, Vespera....They've lost too many members, recently. Secrets and knowledge died with them. If they could speak to them and could learn what they knew, why, that might just be enough to finally overthrow the Council and defeat the Black Swan once and for all.

The Lost Isles were a safe haven for all those with nowhere else to go. Outlaws and fugitives and outcasts.
And that was where Sophie Foster called home.

After a horrific dragon riding accident, Sophie Foster can say that she's adjusted pretty well, for the most part. While dragon riding was her passion, Sophie's found other options in the form of an apprenticeship. She's doing okay, even if she's distanced herself from all her friends and family.
Then comes a boy. On a boat. Injured and on the brink of death.
Bad things are happening just beyond the lost isles, and it may be too late to save the dragons, but Sophie's got to try, or else.
Armed with nothing but herself, her friends, the mysterious boy she saved, and the dragons she knows as family, it's up to Sophie to save everything she's come to call home, or watch it burn to the ground.
