Summary
We're about a week from the one year anniversary of the publication of You Are Shadow Stalker, and I felt it would be interesting to revisit that idea. There's a lot that could be done differently with it, from structural choices in the prose to the way the central concept is handled by the various organizations in the Wormverse, to the complete mess that became of the plot after it stopped being a one-shot. As with any idea I tend to write, this is a melange of different ideas I have been working on for varying lengths of time, most of which are artistic fixations of mine or repeated motifs, themes, etc. Hopefully all that time to stew and distill results in a richer, better story. Without further ado and for your consideration:

I’d been on the hunt for a parahuman for two weeks now, and now that I was less than ten meters away from five of them, I was filled with uncertainty.
Not fear - fear only exists when you have something to lose. I had nothing on me that I minded losing. Just one of my disposable costumes - a mismatching balaclava and hoodie, the Tinkertech responsible for hiding my identity at the base of my skull, and one of many kitchen knives that I bought in bulk.
I made the mistake of going out in a pricey costume on my first hunt.
