Annette Rose, parahuman lieutenant in Lustrum’s gang, gets her body hijacked when she tries to kill Pretender and his boyfriend, Danny Hebert, in a college androcide. Pretender, not realizing he’s triggered and unable to leave Annette’s body, assumes Annette’s life, joining the Protectorate and continuing his relationship with Danny for the next twenty years.
Problem is, Pretender and Danny didn’t tell many people about Pretender’s true nature, including their daughter, Taylor. The death of Annette’s body unsettles their lives, throwing the three of them into new worlds where none of them understands each other anymore.
Or, a fic about that feeling when you know something about yourself is true, but the whole world says it isn’t. Previously titled My Mom Is Actually Pretender???

Summary
Growing up as a Hispanic kid wasn’t the easiest thing in Brockton Bay, and Taylor Hebert knew it all too well. Looking more like her mother Annette than her father Danny, racism had always been something that Taylor had to deal with, but it wasn’t until attending Winslow that things went from bad to worse. Triggering from a sustained campaign of racist bullying from those in the orbit of the Empire 88, Taylor’s identity is compromised after she turned invisible right in front of her assailant’s eyes and left him on the ground in writhing pain. With no other options, Taylor and her parents turn to the PRT and relocate to Chicago.
Starting over in the Windy City as its newest Ward, Taylor must juggle between the pressures of being a teenaged superhero, her intimidating power, and a civilian life that is still trying to heal from the scars of Brockton Bay.

Hello and welcome everybody to my first fan fiction on Archive. Now, I've written fan fiction before. Plenty of them, actually. Most of them are on space battles, the most popular one being Jaws of Brockton Bay. Shameless plug is shameless, I know, but still. In any case, this fan fiction will be an old one, but a good one. Or should I say a style fan fiction that's tried and true of Fate X Worm fan fiction. Now, this won't be like Essence of Silver and Steel. Yes, Taylor will get servant powers. However, unlike in Essence of Silver and Steel, she will only have the powers of 1 servant instead of all of them. And yes, Taylor is going to be a bit OP and considering what she does later and what she's going to be able to pull off, that's kind of an understatement. Well, without further ado, let's see what happens when a traumatized teenage girl walks out of a locker, not just with a new lease on life, but also with a very special weapon at hand. One that has the power to raise kingdoms. One that has the power to reshape the world. One that you could say gives the wielder promised victory. Well then, I've rambled on for long enough. The Brockton Bay Brigade was fed bad information, and so attacked the wrong target, but still form New Wave despite their blunder. Marquis doesn't end up getting sent to the Birdcage and so remains entrenched, though as a single parent.
Taylor doesn't end up going to summer camp, which might have ended up better for her and Emma had the attack over the summer of 2009 not turned out so much worse.

Since parahumans appeared in Earth Bet, soulmate bonds increasingly began manifesting as guide animals. Normally, a guide animal is a magical creature that travels between soulmates to guide, comfort, and support them until they meet their soulmate.
Eidolon has the exception, an asshole goose that won’t stop biting him, and, apparently, he has too many problems for the thing to ever leave him alone, even following him to Endbringer battles.
Danny Hebert always thought he never had a soulmate, neither he nor Annette having a guide animal of their own, even during the points in their lives when they would need one the most. Needless to say, Danny is pretty surprised when a goose shows up after Annette’s death.
They’re all even more surprised when the goose gets even more aggressive during Leviathan’s attack on Brockton Bay.

The fox smiled, friendly as can be as a button appeared next to it. ‘Enable camera,’ it read. "Hold your homework up to the camera. Scan it here! I can help!" the fox said, swishing its tail back and forth.
Taylor glanced up at the little bit of plastic sitting on top of the computer. She rolled her lips together, studying it curiously. Sweat licked down the back of her neck. The room seemed to be getting hotter. She wasn’t entirely sure why.
"Hold your homework up to the camera," the fox said. "Scan it here! I can—"
Taylor clicked the button. She’d never done this before, but it couldn’t hurt. The little blue light on the camera flicked on and the fans whirred to life, louder than they'd ever been. She grabbed the crumpled math sheet and held it up for the camera to see, blinking up at the lens as the fans whirred faster, rougher. They stopped and started again and again, rhythmically, like the computer itself was gasping. Like it was breathing hard.
