Frederick's entire body stiffened, gaze hardening as though struck by lightning. Richard continued, “A long time ago I heard a legend that only elves with royal blood could guide a wary traveler such as myself to the False Star.” Richard let out a weary sigh, “It’s a little embarrassing to grovel, and what I’m asking is a heavy burden, but I’m practically going to be risking my life to get you out of here, so..”

Summary
I wrote this piece, involving snippets of Frederick’s childhood and his journey to the manor, for a writing challenge. I travel from his birth to his time playing piano in Paris, and try to really get into the events that molded him into the sort-of “failure” he is today. Sorry Frederick, I wish I wasn’t so evil to you. It may seem fragmented and winding, for I tried to mimic the mindset of a schizophrenic.

The clouds gathered like mourners above the castle. It was about six months after the Mycelium outbreak shattered the world. Frederick Kreiberg had to bury his parents three months ago. Now, he feels like he stands on a precipice before his city. Winter's wind chills him to the bone, and it forebodes more of a warning than a welcome; things were about to change for the worse.
But first? The opening act must draw the curtains open.

When Frederick finds out that the music club is filled up, he is upset. To help him move forward, his mother signed him up for the book club. Frederick hates the idea that Orpheus is the head of the club and views him as a snob. However, when he attends the club, he sees a different perspective of him and even has an attraction towards him.
This takes place in a modern au high school.
