“Why did you agree to go on that dating show?”

“Wasn’t it you who forced me to sign the contract?” Kim Dokja asked.

“Don’t push the blame onto me,” Han Sooyoung said irritably. “If you really didn’t want to go, do you think I could have forced you? What’s gotten into you all of a sudden? You’re not actually planning to punch him on the show, are you?”

    Summary

His arms stretched above his head until his spine gave a satisfying pop. The movement was accompanied by a soft groan—he had been sitting far too long, but the thrill of creating and fine-tuning his masterpiece kept him tethered to his desk.

“Yoo Joonghyuk, you perfect bastard,” Kim Dokja muttered, a crooked grin spreading across his face.

On the screen before him, a man with a piercing gaze and a jawline sharp enough to cut steel stared back at him. Yoo Joonghyuk’s hair, dark as midnight, framed his face in windswept layers, and his fur-lined armor gave him the air of someone both noble and deadly. His sword rested in its sheath at his side, its hilt gleaming with intricate runes Kim Dokja had designed down to the last detail.

Every element of Yoo Joonghyuk had been painstakingly crafted.

Or: Kim Dokja is a Game Developer who creates a character, Yoo Joonghyuk. But when the man appears before him, real and alive, Kim Dokja’s world starts crumbling and he has to learn how to navigate around this new reality he has found himself in, with Yoo Joonghyuk tagging along as his protective knight.

HIATUS (Idfk when I'll continue this, only thing this fucker is missing is an ending where the kids get to be happy lmao)

Backstory for the characters is heavily inspired by Surely it was Fate. That fanfic is my favourite ORV fanfic by far, and the backstory for how Kim Dokja met YJH, plus YJH’s upbringing was very tempting to include. If you want a Yoo Joonghyuk x Kim Dokja fic that knows how to slow burn and make you so, so mad, please go check it out.

Han Sooyoung and Yoo Joonghyuk have always kept one particular boy in the back of their mind. A small, frail boy they met in 2009, with the brightest smile and a caring heart. Han Sooyoung wrote more and more in the hope that he'd recognise her work and reach out, while Yoo Joonghyuk started a gaming channel so that the boy could watch him play games forever. They had no idea how their passion for the same man would bring them together, over 15 years later through a videogame directed by the one and only Kim Dokja.

Han Sooyoung only had one question. Why didn't Kim Dokja remember either of them?

The first time Yoo Joonghyuk and Kim Dokja met, it more or less went something like this:

Kim Dokja introduces himself; "Hello, I'm Kim Dokja, or better known as OldestDream to you."

"So you're the bitch who made Ways of Survival." Yoo Joonghyuk replies back snarkily.

    Summary

“You didn’t tell me that your friend was my Dokja.” Jonghyun says, lips stuck in an amicable smile. Dokja looks at him weirdly.

“It’s none of your damn business,” Jonghyuk glares at the hand curled possessively on Dokja’s hip, “Also last I checked he’s my friend. Not yours.”

(Or: Kim Dokja has never watched a single k-drama in his life so whoever’s grand idea it was to make him the fucking main lead of all things needs to give him compensation for dealing with not one, but two of the biggest headaches he’s ever had the misfortune of meeting.)
