This fic was started one day after Jailbreak aired – March 13th, 2015 – and was based on the information I had at the time. Instead of adapting the story to the new information given as the show continued, I decided to plow right on with my own version, as it grew more and more hilariously noncanon. If you're a new reader, please don't expect this story to have any sort of adherence to anything past early Season Two. I'm not even caught up on the show.

"Wait, but I thought Pearl – our Pearl, I mean - belonged to Pink." Amethyst says, arms crossed and thinking hard. "Why is there another Pearl who belonged to Pink?"
The silence is sudden, sharp, and deafening. And Pearl knows she is out of time.
She laughs nervously. It's a reflex. It's better than crying.
Compartmentalize. The conversation will be difficult, but she can get through it. She didn't even do anything wrong this time! (Except keeping secrets, secrets layered upon secrets layered upon secrets and she's never really wanted to keep any of them but her tongue gets tied in her mouth and the words won't come and it’s easier to loudly change the subject or not say anything at all.)
"Pearl," Steven's voice is small, and worried - the exact same tone he'd used as he'd handed her phone back to her with a stunned expression on his face. "Is this... another order? Is this something you want to tell us, but you can't?"
She sighs, shoulders sagging. "No, Steven." She sits back down, arms wrapped around her knees. Pink Pearl sits next to her, mimicking her posture, and it would be comforting if she didn't recognise it for the habit of Pearls to line up in a row on display whenever there was a gathering. "It's not. It's just something I don't particularly like to remember."

"Before I was given to Pink, I served White Diamond."
"Whaaaaaaat?" Amethyst gasps.
Garnet doesn't look particularly shocked, but Steven is frowning. "I saw some of Mom's memories," he says. "From Homeworld. When she started working on the colony, it was you, but before that..."
"Well, yes, it became evident early on that when it came to building a colony, Pink didn't really keep... schedules. You can imagine how the other Diamonds reacted to that." Beside her, Pink Pearl shivers slightly, catches it, then goes still again.
"And White Diamond punished her, by taking her Pearl away," Steven murmurs sadly.
Pearl shrugs, waving a hand airly. As though maybe if she makes it sound like not a big deal, it would become true. "That's about the shape of it. White decided that Pink Pearl had become a 'distraction' so took her away to be 'fixed'. And sent me in her place." And Pearl had gone, unquestioningly, White's perfect little robot to execute her orders.

Pink Pearl frowns, hand hesitantly reaching up to trace over her missing eye. Pearl can see the anxiety coiling there - after all, part of a Pearl's job was to be pretty, and such a disfigurement would have likely got any other Pearl shattered and disposed of.

“I mean, I knew you were old, but like, not that old.”
“Amethyst!”
“Age is such a human thing to worry about, Steven,” Pearl dismisses. “Although I suppose, yes, for what it’s worth I would be the oldest Pearl. For what little good that does, it’s not like age gives you any authority.”

Pearl tugs her coat closer around herself. This is the first time she’s formed without any of the typical adornments of a Pearl, after centuries of slowly discarding the impractical fripperies and translucent tulle Pearls usually wore, to showcase their daintiness.

“Pink was the opposite of White in every way. White… hated imperfection. Even back then. But Pink… she celebrated it. She loved uniqueness. [.] And her Pearl was the same way. She never had any hope of pleasing White Diamond. [.] I have regrets, but there’s so little I would change, now. As selfish as that may be.” She shrugs her shoulders, though Garnet isn’t even looking to see her performed nonchalance. “But looking at her, Pink Pearl, I can’t help but wonder…”
She trails off. The words feel traitorous on her tongue, so linger unsaid.
She’s been free in name for thousands of years. She’d even started to believe it, sometimes, so enamoured with Pink – with Rose. Felt secure and haughty as her closest confidant, her most trusted. It made her feel like they were equals.
Until that delusion was shattered by a single man, and all she was left with was secrets and duty and memories, and the haunting realisation that her freedom had always been just another one of Pink Diamond's countless illusions. When she was no longer keeping her secrets because she wanted to, but because Pink had left her with no choice.

She’d never once expressed regret to Pearl, however. Never once appeared to worry about the Pearl she’d left behind in White Diamond’s tender care.
White Diamond hadn’t cared about losing her Pearl, of course. Pearl had known that, expected it. To Homeworld gems, Pearls were just accessories, not all that different to mobile phones. Losing one was a brief inconvenience, but like all possessions, one could easily do without. You didn’t miss it, or worry about it.
She hadn’t thought Pink Diamond was like that. Only now, looking at the evidence…

She’s always been obsessive, though. White Diamond had remembered that about her. Made her that way.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Jasper growled, staring out at the beach where Pearl could make out Garnet and Amethyst gathering up bits of debris from the ship that they had all crashed. “Why didn’t she tell me?”
“Rose… Pink Diamond.” Pearl corrected herself. “She believed that… That the more people who knew who she really was, the larger risk of things falling apart.”
“I could have kept this secret.”
“I know you could have. But… You’re not a Pearl,” Jasper’s eyes slid over to Pearl, giving her her full attention, and Pearl wondered if it wasn’t better for her to be staring out at the beach, not pinning her in place with that feline gaze. “You couldn’t be commanded to silence. Compelled to it. Her order to me was binding. If I had disobeyed, if I had spoken the words… I was never able to do it. It was like choking on nothing.”

An incident report from the records of Hexington University looking into instances and examples of what went down during this fiasco.This is a spin off from JaysonWesker28’s College Dayz fic series, a mass crossover of many comics,video games and cartoons in one hectic place. As an IT intern at Beach City Hospital, Peridot spends her time restarting computers and organizing files. Two months into her internship, her coworker Pearl introduces her to their new patient - Lapis Lazuli. She was kidnapped six months before and was found by police in a room full of mirrors. With no immediate family and no emergency contacts, Pearl asked Peridot to be Lapis' caretaker. After she agrees, Pearl tells her that Lapis is pregnant and heavily traumatized.
This fanfic is heavily inspired by "Things We Lost and Things We Gain" by teamchaosprez !! (steven universe fanfic in 2025???? crazy) It was written back in 2015 when Lapidot was just a CONCEPT, so I wanted to update it a bit according to lore and my own headcanons.
Updated every Friday !!

When Aquamarine captures Steven, Pearl manages to get on the ship and rescue Lars - but gets poofed, and Steven brings her to the trial in his hands. She's able to put herself together just in time, and tells the diamonds the truth.
Steven spends 7 years on Homeworld, becoming the new Pink Diamond. Eventually he comes back to Earth to fix the corrupted gems, or so he says.
Now the Crystal Gems have to figure out where their relationship with Steven stands, and what Homeworld wants from them.

Garnet felt a current of shock run through her her future vision.
“It was not close enough,” Pearl said stoically as she slowly made her way to Stevonnie’s side. It wasn’t Pearl’s voice, though. It was nothing like her voice. It sounded like…
“Stevonnie!” Garnet shouted as she tackled Pearl to the ground.
“What the-?” Stevonnie exclaimed.
“It’s White Diamond! She’s controlling Pearl!”
Stevonnie stepped back in horror as Pearl looked straight at them from Garnet’s grip, emotionless and determined.
“What?” Amethyst asked, drawing her whip, “How’s that even possible?”
“I used to belong to Her,” Pearl said, calmly attempting to break free, “When we escaped My Diamond triggered my Loyalties Command, giving me orders telepathically. You will all be punished for your disobedience.”
She sounded more and more like White’s Pearl as she spoke. She was able to overpower Garnet just enough to reach for her gem and summon a spear, easily breaking free and poofing Garnet from there.
Stevonnie summoned their shield and tried to corner Pearl along with Amethyst.
“Pearl, this isn’t you!” they cried out, “Please, you can fight this!”
“The last six thousand years were not me. I am finally me again. And I must serve my original Diamond.”
Pearl threw countless spears at the two, hopping around the room at breakneck speed so neither would be able to gain the upper hand.
“P, you’re always saying you’re your own Gem. Ol’ Whitey doesn’t have control over you!”
“But she does. She has control of all Gems.”
“Not me!” Amethyst said, lunging her whip at Pearl, only to have a spear thrust through her chest.
“That will have to be corrected,” Pearl said, turning her attention towards Stevonnie.
Stevonnie cowered in the corner, holding their shield up to their face.
“Pearl please stop,” they pleaded, “No more of this!”
“My orders are to bring you back to Homeworld. Your presence is required by My Diamond. Physical form or not.”
“But White isn’t your Diamond anymore!”
“As they say, once a Diamond’s Pearl, always a Diamond’s Pearl.”
As Pearl coldly made her way towards Stevonnie, a frightening idea lingered in their mind.
It would be wrong.
But it would save them.
It would ruin almost everything Pearl had worked for.
But it would free her from White’s control.
Either way, they were out of options once Pearl raised her spear into the air, standing only inches from them.
“Pearl…” they began, “as Pink Diamond’s successor…”
No, that wouldn’t work. It made them sick to their stomachs, but they had to be direct if they wanted to fool Pearl's programming, even if it was a lie.
“As Pink Diamond...I order you to stop following White’s orders at once and return to your former self! Please...”
And as if they had flipped a switch, Pearl’s demeanor changed radically. Her face became flooded with terror at what she was about to do, at what had just happened. She dropped her spear and broke down on her knees.
“Oh stars I’m so sorry…” she sobbed, “I’m so sorry Stevonnie…”
Stevonnie dropped their shield and wrapped Pearl in a hug.
“So am I…”
