Taking them in because they have no family left was part of his morals. He had to.Father Garcia had saved Michael. He was okay.
When Michael is sent to live at the Ward household, and John has to go with Father Garcia to stop the Eternal Order of the Second Death once and for all to save Nate and Jason, John isn't one to deny a child in need, nor is he one to deny a call for help.
With the lives of his children thrown into the fray, along with Father Garcia's and his own, things begin to spiral out of his control, and fast.
