Inspector Cabanela did go to Detective Jowd home when he asked him for a favor, to bake cupcakes, for Alma Jowd’s wife-, like a present.
How would Inspector Cabanela say no, if his friend asked so nicely? He decided -on his own- that he would give Detective Jowd something too -a help for them to conceive and expand their family of three and a cat, to a four and a cat-.
But something unexpected happened when they tasted them. Sissel watches them develop something that was in the making, even before they bake cupcakes together.

Summary
Jowd has two soul bonds but he’s long grown used to just hearing familiar crashing waves tinted his soul’s own green hue. His own guilt, his own grief, his own despair. He intends on keeping his emotions as burdens to him alone.
Cabanela glares at the prison’s doors, feeling sick. How could they have forced his soul bond’s soul to grow so completely silent. He sends him pulses of a reassuring song but is given no reason to believe his love isn’t falling on deaf ears. But that’s okay, when this is over he will get the bottom of it.
Alma, once she has been given another chance to live again, also plans to figure out why Jowd’s soul is so uncharacteristically distant.
-Au where there’s a way to connect your soul with another. Jowd had connected to two and, after what was meant to be a joke, they connected to each other too. This connection allows them to share feelings with each other but after Alma died, Jowd slowly figured out how to block himself off. It’s been years since he felt that connection so he doesn’t even think about what he’s missing even after going back in time and changing all of their fates for the better. Alma and Cabanela, on the other hand, are very aware of what they’re missing.
