Dopo la pietosa sconfitta di Loki, Thor lo portò legato come una bestia e lo presentò a Odino, prima però gli furono fornite cure mediche e i guaritori vennero così a conoscenza che era stato torturato e che la sua mente era stata distrutta dalla tortura e dagli effetti della pietra della mente.
Viene stabilito che l'invasione non era colpa sua.
Odino deve solo punirlo per i suoi crimini prima della sua caduta: viene liberato ma la sua magia gli viene tolta perché nessuno può fidarsi di lui con il potere in questo momento. Odino spiega che riavrà i suoi poteri una volta che si sarà guadagnato la loro fiducia, ma Loki è sconfitto così completamente che pensa che non ci sia speranza per lui, non riesce a pensare di vivere con le persone che gli hanno dato solo dolore e tradimenti, chiede se può lasciare Asgard per vivere in pace.
La sua richiesta viene negata perché Frigga non può lasciarlo andare dopo tutta la disperazione che ha affrontato, vuole che faccia ancora parte della famiglia.
Loki lo prende come un ulteriore atto di sfiducia nei suoi confronti. -

Up to this point, he'd been in a fairly consistent (if uneventful) routine; he'd peek at the timelines, make sure Sylvie was ok, see what Mobius was up to, check in on his brother. All from a distance that wouldn’t make him feel too sad to be left out of it all - then he’d fall asleep again and hope his dreams would be pleasant ones.
This time he sat awake with his thoughts.
Just having someone — anyone — come to see him, even a formerly evil cartoon clock he hadn’t been overly fond of, was such a relief he had to strain to prevent himself from sobbing uncontrollably.
It probably wasn’t a good idea to indulge his loneliness when he had such an important job to do, but he found himself counting the non-existent hours, hoping she would come back.

Sylvie was taking it easy. Smiling at customers when they approached the counter, sitting in the back of her truck on her lunch break, stopping by the record shop on her way home from work just to see a familiar face, falling asleep to a shitty movie. It was a type of peace that was starting to relax her muscles, slowly erasing thousands of years of running and surviving.
The story had ended when Loki had stepped beyond their sight. When Sylvie had left Mobius standing on the sidewalk outside the house of his variant. Now, she was playing out a very long epilogue filled with nothing but quiet tranquility.
At least, that’s what she wanted. Her life didn’t perfectly fit the bill, unfortunately.

“Anthony Stark! Why am I not even surprised?”
Great! The eldritch monster of time can speak and knows Tony’s name. And who he is. Splendid, really.
But that accent… Tony is pretty sure he heard that accent before. But where? And from who? The voice itself is pretty hoarse like the person hasn’t used it in a long time, but still, it is very familiar.
It doesn’t stay a mystery to him for long who it belongs to. The time branches start to move around him, clearing a path to what seems to be the edge of these ruins, and as soon as his eyes are able to focus to the new distance, he knows.
There is a lone chair at the end of the path, which is not even a chair, but rather a throne, pure gold and beautiful, and though the person on it sits with his back being toward Tony, that black mess of curly hair and the horny helmet is something that one just doesn’t forget. Even though the helmet now seems to be a crown instead of a protective gear, sitting heavily on the top of his head.
