Summary
Klavier stared through the window in silence. In that silence, Simon could hear his reprisals of the past.
Unattainable approval. Standards never to be met. A throne of lies that he had been too naïve to see Kristoph’s manicured hands construct, even as his own—scarred from guitars and stained with ink—followed in their act, desperate for cheers and applause as they used the tools forged before them. And all of it, he had done with an eager, show-stopping smile.
Klavier did not smile now. He only continued to stare with a severity that hardened his eyes and cast stark shadows upon his features.
Kristoph Gavin stared back. A smile pulled at his lips. It did not fit among the gaunt features of his countenance, his eyes shadowed by hollows, his cheeks sunken into the bone beneath; but then, none of his physical appearance corresponded with his demeanor. He lifted his head, just barely, pale hair streaming down in a perfect, precise curl onto the gurney whose straps bound him. Then his voice crackled over the speakers. “My, my, what a surprise… It’s been four years too many,” he said, “Klavier.”

Summary
Reacclimating to life outside of prison has been quite the undertaking. The only thing that made Simon's life easier is that he has a very understanding boss and a stable job he enjoys. That gives him something to build his life around, but a certain fiery yellow attorney refuses to sit on the sidelines. A simple visit from one Athena Cykes has led him to pushing himself beyond his comfort zone as she gets him to spend the day at a cultural festival with her.

Apollo found himself unable to appreciate how stunning Athena looked—her hair falling across her shoulders in soft auburn waves; the deep sweetheart neckline of her dress and how it perfectly accented her figure; the faint sweetness of perfume that lingered with her sweet cherry smile—and instead stared at the man looming behind her. Only briefly did he register Athena’s expression as it fell into dismay.
“...Apollo?” she asked.
His glare pierced through the black mop of hair that fell across his face and burned directly into Apollo’s soul. It stabbed through the shadows stretching across the sharp features of his pale face—deathly pale, nearly skeletal—and stabbed every essential organ in Apollo’s body without lifting a finger.
“I-I didn’t want to go out in the rain, so I asked Simon if he could drive me,” she continued, her smile returning, this time with a nervous tilt. She looked up at the man, lips pursing into a pout. “Be polite and say hi, Simon!”
“Justice-dono.”
What Apollo Justice anticipated was to eat at an overpriced Italian restaurant with Athena Cykes. What he did not anticipate was The Twisted Samurai looming behind her.

Written with the song Rainbow Veins by Owl City in mind (title is from lyrics). I super like this song for her, and I may write more to it later. (I was, in fact, also listening to it at the time.)
