Summary
This fic is a direct epilogue to M.F. Private Investigators, which centered on Lana Skye and Diego Armando starting a PI agency after their release from prison. It will feature a series of vignettes from after the events of that fic.
Don't read this if you dislike normie stuff and hopeful fics about characters living their best lives after veritable buttloads of trauma. I just want my blorbos to be happy, ok?
First chapter of this fic is straight up just an explanation of some of my original characters and head canons, so you can understand this fic even if you haven't read any of my other fics. It's also there if you have read M.F. PIs and/or my other stuff but just haven't hung on my every word (valid).
Writing as I go. 12 scenes planned. Additional characters to be tagged as they appear. Despite the archive warning, this isn't a tragedy but simply a true epilogue. Yes, I'm going there.

“These incidents are connected,” Miles tells the SIU Director, in the earliest meeting with the man he can get. “They have to be. Someone is causing them, and leaving these marks behind, and, somehow, they’re getting away with it.” He straightens as much as he can, hands curling into fists. “Those that are guilty cannot be allowed to walk free. I will not let that stand.”
The Director regards him impassively, hands steepled together in front of his face.
“An interesting observation, Mr. Edgeworth,” he says, eventually. He lets out an exhale, then pushes himself up in his chair. “Though quite a lot for only one person to handle on their own, surely.” He cocks his head, and offers Miles the barest hint of a smile, eyes sharp. “Why don’t we pair you with someone that can help split the work?”
He, as Miles already suspects, is not talking about Detective Gumshoe.

Summary
Recently released from prison and both disbarred, Diego Armando and Lana Skye start a private detective agency, named after the late, great Mia Fey. The two become reluctant friends, to maybe more, but the journey there isn't always easy.
Elevator Pitch: It's Moonlighting (1985) with Lana and Diego. Or, alternatively, a modern day screwball comedy with angst and trauma bonding.
Tagged characters have dialogue. Characters featured prominently without dialogue are labeled mentioned. Brief references to characters and cameos not tagged.
Content warnings at the top of heavier chapters, when applicable. Despite the Rape/Non-Con warning, there is no explicit sexual or violent content. Explicit language features throughout in a conversational way.
