Summary
The lockdown on the Oldest House is lifted, but there's still plenty of work to do-- including checking in on Bright Falls, WA. No sign of anything yet-- they're a few years too early, according to the mysterious alert sent to the Bureau. But there's no harm in checking in anyway. Besides, the Anderson's farm is still here, and their stage still set up... a bit of a dream come true for an Old God's fan like Jesse.

Summary
“Had I known what they were really doing up there, I would’ve definitely done more,” Langston says, shaking his head and laughing, half out of disbelief, half out of nervousness. “I mean, I was already offended that they wouldn’t even let me up there. Surely the man in charge of the Panopticon itself should have access to all cells, right?”
“...what?” Dylan asks, stomach flipping. He feels as if time has stopped moving. Langston is still talking— that he is vaguely and painfully aware of— but none of the words process. His previous statement repeats on loop as the world around him grows numb.
Langston knew.
He knew he was held there. He knew Darling did it.
He knew Dylan’s name.

Summary
Jesse can hear someone muttering to themselves as she gets closer and closer to the sound room. Not unusual— from employees to Hiss agents, there’s nearly always something lurking around a corner in the House— what’s unusual is the fact that she recognizes the voice of Emily Pope.
And it sounds like she’s… arguing? With someone?Emily is tired of being mislabelled and misunderstood. Jesse lends an ear.

Summary
MICROCOSM ; a community, place, or situation regarded as encapsulating in miniature the characteristic qualities or features of something much larger.
People with more experience under their belt at the Bureau would always talk about how it felt like a second home. Others would say it felt like an entirely different world— like crossing the threshold to work was really crossing a threshold into something entirely new. The agreement was simply this: inside the house, it feels almost like another world or life. The House is a wilderness you are stranded in, and it may kill you before the life rafts get here. It is not so much an enemy like the Hiss is— an invader here to consume you— simply an ecosystem that you must learn to survive in.

Summary
Darling is pulled from his winding train of thought at the sound of the door latch opening. It’s gentle, nearly inaudible— a hesitation at the initial sound, followed by a careful, slow creak of the hinges as the door pushes open a crack. He turns to look over his shoulder, expecting janitorial staff, or a new research hire. Instead, he watches a set of small fingers curl around the edge of the door, followed by a mop of auburn hair, and timid blue eyes. Darling blinks in surprise.
“Dylan?”
The boy flinches backwards, before pushing the door open a bit further. He steps in slowly, letting a hand linger on the edge of the door until he can’t reach it anymore, before letting it swing shut.
“Hi, Dr. Darling,” he says quietly.Series

Summary
Emily’s hands have never known a moment of stillness and she has always been proud of them. But at this moment, where her breath falls in quick, broken exhales and her ears are standing at such attention that her jaw is beginning to ache, she curses her hands for shaking so violently. Unused to the thickness of the leather gloves now cladding her once deft digits, she fumbles with a handful of silver bullets. They fall from her clumsy, blood slicked fingers—her own or that... that creature’s, she dare not waste time trying to discern—clattering to the cobblestone in mockingly soft plinks like marbles on a schoolyard. The loss of bullets in of itself isn’t a concern, after all she can simply pilfer more from the pile of corpses that are increasing in number the longer the night drags on. No, her main concern is solely on the beast.

Fics of mine that are all stand alone, but in my mind, build off of the Grow Brighter fic :) you don't need to read any of them to understand the others, but they're all technically connected (in my head, at least!)

Summary
The sun is fun, the land is dandy, I only talk to dogs because they don't understand me, my teeth are yellow, hello world, would you like me a little better if they were white like yours? I need to purge my urges, shame, shame, shame. I need an alibi to justify, somebody to blame...
(Alien Blues, Vundabar)
A series of loosely connected oneshots, in which Dylan finds himself increasingly uncomfortable with remaining around the Bureau, before he up and leaves.
It's a pretty big world out there— maybe even bigger than the never-ending insides of the Oldest House— and there's plenty for him to find and rediscover.

Summary
“You were expecting Dylan.”
“...you are Dylan.”
“Not your Dylan.”
Jesse fails to find a response, let alone a thought, to make heads or tails of his meaning. Usually, she knows her brother better than anyone else, even when he dips into the far reaches of speech and thought.(Dylan picks through his rattled thoughts with Jesse the morning after a nightmare that left him shaken. Despite leaving the House and Hiss behind him, it all still haunts his waking (and sleeping) moments. Jesse tries to help him make sense of it all.)
