- Saga doesn't trust the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC.) She can profile people and follow the trail of the Story.
- Director Jesse Faden has Polaris telling her Saga is important. She can fight Mr. Scratch/The Dark Presence/The Dark Place itself.
- FBC Agent Kiran Estevez needs to bring Saga to the Oldest House (FBC HQ.) FBI Agent Casey has chemistry with her. There are rules to the Dark Place, these two and other characters are needed to realistically facilitate the realization of this story acc. to the rules of the Dark Place.

Director Faden was one of the best. The Board called her the best of their Directors. She'd saved them, saved everyone, from the Hiss. Then she was gone, and another FBC agent took her place. The new Director was also special, parautilitarian, all the Directors had been since Northmoor. The Board seemed to love the new Director. Not only that, they were the first to reach out through the Hotline, hold a conversation rather than be contacted and lectured.
The new Director mused on the nature of their work, Faden, and the Board, and they received a call from a paranatural entity through the Hotline.
