The Inquisition demands three things of its army’s commander: humility, fortitude, and courage. One thing it does not demand, however, is patience, and testing it in every direction is the Herald of Andraste. Denouncing his strategies, ignoring his experience, flouncing important duties to pick elfroot: the one Andraste sent to lead the Inquisition to victory might instead lead Commander Rutherford to insanity, all the while dragging him though the morbid details of his past. He may survive the war, but Cullen doesn't know if he can survive confronting all the ugly parts of himself that he's hidden for decades.

It would be simpler if this actually was the Envy demon, and the real Inquisitor was just locked up somewhere waiting to be found. Then at least they could kill the paranoid, murderous thing in their midst instead of trying to convince it to calm down.
Or, a story where Trevelyan gets amnesia and Dorian is forced to evaluate the true depth of his feeling for the Inquisitor.
