Quigley is the one to wake up first. Well, first awake out of his siblings. He’s the second person to be awake now. Fiona and her criminal brother are still asleep underneath their makeshift blankets of coats, while Hector is still sleeping underneath a nearby dead tree. The sky, while dark, is not pitch black like a blackbird singing in the dead of night. It’s a somewhat navy blue.
It’s the color Quigley saw plenty of times after leaving Dr. Montgomery’s house.
Quigley rubs his eyes, and blinks a few more times. He now sees the first person to awaken, walking back to their camp with twigs in his arms. It’s the man once known as Captain Widdershins, aka, Fiona and her criminal brother’s stepfather. With no submarine to be a captain of, the man told Quigley and his siblings to call him ‘Widdershins’, and that only.
