And, yes- maybe, whenever he saw Jack brush his lips over Sarah’s cheek, a pit was left in David’s stomach, and maybe that pit grew larger every time he watched Jack choose someone over him. But then there were those one-armed hugs and those wide smiles that shown solely for him, all little fragments in time where that pit in his stomach didn’t hurt. And maybe it wasn't everything Dave wanted, but maybe, maybe, it would be enough.
