In the midst of the crew executing Odysseus’ plan, Perimedes managed to smuggle one of the sirens away, one that — for a reason the rest of the crew seemed completely unaware of — chose to imitate Elpenor. Now, with the rest of the sirens taken care of, Perimedes slips away to the very bottom of the ship, where the crash of waves against the hull can drown out his siren’s song.
