Don't need to actually follow the show, but I'd probably set between shadar logoth and the white tower if you still want to set it. Falling in love and learning to trust the other and their feelings kind of stuff.

Rand felt the dream slipping away from him.
He opened his eyes, reached down to slide his hand around Mat's wrist, anchoring himself. He could feel the slight haziness trying to push in on his thoughts, but he remembered enough.
"Awake again?" Mat asked, pressing a sleepy kiss against Rand's bare shoulder. "You were only out for a couple of hours. You need more rest, Rand."
"I had a dream with Perrin in it," Rand said. "I think it might have been real."
