Miyuki, Akane, Yayoi, Nao, and Reika are all adults with daughters of their own, all five girls having the same unbreakable friendship their mothers did, but not when an unknown source begins a rumor that results in their bond being shredded to pieces. After being taken to Marchenland to be cheered up by her mother, their trip ending in a minor battle that she wins, Miyuki's daughter Joy is determined to find the other members of the new Smile PreCure and stop the Twisted World and its leader, along with her promise to protect the Wonder Books from the Twisted Crew so they can't take over the world. Follow Joy, Amber, Valentine, Naomi, and Indigo as they rekindle their friendship piece by piece, all while swearing to protect the kingdom of Marchenland and their homes.
