The amount of times he has looked at the doors when they’ve opened this morning has put him off, so he instead just finishes off typing his sentence and sends his paperwork to Fowler. Footsteps begin to approach him, so he turns around. His breath is immediately taken away when he sees who’s coming towards him.

Summary
The revolution is over. All sentient androids have been recycled and Detroit has been returned to humans. Cyberlife made a public apology and after an uproar from the public, was bought out by another company and rebranded as RMC, short for Robots and Machinery Co. They remade many of their models and made sure they passed a new Amanda test, to ensure no deviancy. Connor's legacy lives on in the RK900 models, which have been sent to armies and local police stations as a utility for the fighting and investigations. All police teams received one RK900 as a partner and one of them was Gavin Reed, who did not like this change in the slightest.
Alternatively: A world where the revolution failed and Gavin now has to struggle with an android insisting on occupying a space in his life despite not being a deviant.

Connor has to leave to help Jericho find stability. Neither he nor Hank look forward to the separation, but Hank cannot go where only androids belong and Connor cannot stay until the new laws are passed. Luckily, there’s something this android and human have in common that they can look to for comfort in the time between meetings.

Despite new (temporary) regulations, i.e. bans, concerning android production, CyberLife is permitted to provide a new model to help the vastly overworked Detective Connor Anderson in his investigation of a possibly linked series of crimes.
