Summary
Young Hiro Hamada discovers a way to combine dormant nanites - microscopic machines that have infected everything since the lab they were created in exploded five years ago - with controlled robots, creating nanobots. His nanobots were seemingly destroyed, though, in the same fire that killed his brother.
Rex gets called in when Providence picks up EVO-level nanite readings in San Fransokyo, but it turns out it's not an EVO - it's professor Callaghan, the robotics professor who set the fire to steal Hiro's nanobots.

Summary
After Rex Salazar purged the world of nanites and ended the epidemic, Van Kleiss was left with nothing but Abysus, Skalamander, Biowulf, and Breach. Until Biowulf and Breach decided that enough abuse was enough and walked out. Van Kleiss found himself with only one loyalist, a mild case of mental illness, and no idea what goal to work toward next.
Then Gatlocke showed up and everything went to heck.

Postcanon. VK, Gatlocke, Quarry, Skalamander, and John were my five ultrafaves in the show and I love them so much. And honestly this is eventually meant to flow into the TBTCverse, but I wanted a separate prequel to establish them as a squad instead of taking too much time out of the crossover to do that.
Features retcons and ridiculous plot twists because I got way into this show and maybe had a little TOO much fun. Also, Van Kleiss and Quarry actually putting up with each other. Also also, Quarrylocke, which I am trying to make into a thing even if it's just my thing.
