Summary
There were half a dozen cheap motels scattered around the perimeter of Midnight City, aimed primarily at travellers and new arrivals to the city. They were shabby, unkempt and most importantly, cheap. They also had the unintentional benefit of being private places where nobody met each other's eyes and no community popped up. People didn't learn anybody's name and nobody ever came knocking to see if you wanted to go to fucking brunch together.
That made them the ideal location for an illicit romantic rendezvous.

Quarters' not even really sure what the fuck they’re doing here. Crowbar said a bunch of shit Quarters didn’t pay attention to. Quarters just knows to mow down any non-green non-Snowman shape he sees and that’s exactly what he does. It’s the best part of his job. The worst part is what happens after when Crowbar counts up everything and he’s stuck waiting for them to fucking leave already.
When it’s all over and Itchy doesn’t pop up immediately to hassle him, Quarters doesn’t think much about it. Maybe he should have.

It had been a weird few months since they broke up. Not that Fin's entirely sure he can call it a breakup when neither of them even know what charms they were in, or how many. He always thought it was a trove by the end: Hearts, Crescents and Rainbows; but Quarters had looked at him like he was nuts and muttered about how it didn't matter. Fin didn't agree and still doesn't but Quarters wasn't entirely wrong either. Fin feels as sad now as he would if there had only been one charm - even if it was only Horseshoes.
