From within the fog came a quiet chiming, like chestnuts being hit together. In truth, it reminded Green so much of Minish hauling little sacks of kinstones that he half expected to find an equally small mousy face emerging from the mist.
What he was greeted with, when the creature finally came close enough to see, was a tiny wooden body and a face cut from a leaf. A face to which he was eye to eye with.

Four doesn't use masks. He knows there are some that house spirits or other beings, almost like how the colors—the four identical copies of himself created by the Four Sword—live in his head. A lot of times, these beings are forced into said space by things outside of their control.
But that's where the similarities end, really. Four has no business with mask spirits.

With heavy dread already pooling on his stomach, Vio turns around and takes a step back.
He comes face to face with the end of one of his own sword counterparts, the tip of it dripping with blood as the excess of it slides down its blade until it pools and steadily dyes the baby-soft tunic it pokes out from in a dark red color.
‘No, no, no, no,’ Vio chants inside his head as his lip wobbles and he lifts his gaze, catching sight of Wild’s stricken face. ‘No, no. Please.’
His gaze goes higher and he holds his breath as his eyes travel up along Wild’s raised arms until they reach the sword between his hands, hovering high right above Vio.
It’s easy to connect the dots.
[Or the one where Four believed that by diving himself once more he will be able to get the situation under control. Spoiler alert: he doesn't and it gets worse before it gets better.]

After saving Hyrule from Vaati and Ganondorf, the pieces of Link are sealed inside the Four Sword, acting as the new spirit of the sword they once wielded. Now, the soul that once called itself Link waits in the darkness for the day in which he can be released from the prison he now calls home.
Thousands of years later, he may just get that chance.

After waking from the Shrine of Resurrection, the Hylian (Link? that's what the voice told him anyway) found a sword hidden in a plant-covered cave deep within the plateau. While everything within the cave was destroyed and ruined, the stone that held the sword still looked pristine. The sword, with golden hilt wings still shining despite the vines wrapped around them, hummed softly as he approached with tentative steps.
Grabbing the hilt, he heaved upwards.

“Give it up, Champion!” Blue spats and grips the edge of Wild’s collar, pulling him up roughly. “You left the others — our companions, our brothers — leaving them to their own odds and probably putting them in more danger!”
“Blue,” Vio calls, disapproval sharp and clear in his voice, but Blue hardly pauses.
“You abandoned them!” He shouts in Wild’s face, shaking him by the collar and ignoring the way Wild’s eyes snap wide open in horror. “You left them and now you want to — What? Make a scene and distract Hyrule? Mess up Twilight’s hope of survival¡?”
“Blue!” Red gasps loudly, shocked. Blue shakes his head, shutting his eyes close for a second before he shouts out in frustration.

Four grew up with stories of heroes and his favorites were the ones about the hero of the sky. Now that they were traveling together, Four had so many questions about he wanted to ask him. Red wanted to know how big the giant birds were. Vio wanted to know how a sword could physically call to him. Green wanted to know what life in the sky was like. Blue wanted to know what the dark force he fought looked like. They all wanted to know what his Zelda was like.
They also wondered how well he would take the idea of him having ‘voices’ in his head.
