Roy was used to being on his own. There weren't exactly a lot of kids his age on the island, and even before his parents had left there wasn't a lot of people he could reasonably ask to play during the day. Sure, he wasn't alone. He had his grandfather. The local Pokémon. The entire small island community that felt like family. If he ever was feeling bored he could usually find someone to sit with.
