Druig wakes up and finds that he doesn’t remember anything before the here and now. As he opens his eyes to look around, he realizes that he doesn’t know any of these people. But wait, as his eyes fleet around the circle of his new co-workers he sees her, one beautiful, beautiful person he swears he knows. There is no mistaking the way his breath hitches in his throat when they lock eyes for the first time. She lightly smiles at him. He surprisingly smiles back. Druig never smiles.

The man holds his hand out for her, and she takes it eagerly. Flesh meets flesh and it’s like there’s an electric current running between their palms; Sersi barely holds back the surprised gasp threatening to escape her lungs. If the man’s reaction is anything to go by, he feels it too; his pupils are blown wide, and his tongue darts out to wet his dry lips. “Dane. My name, that is, um, it’s Dane,” he introduces himself, albeit awkward, and Sersi is enthralled.
“Dane…” she murmurs, almost as if to taste his name on her tongue, get a feel for the weight of it. “That’s a lovely name, Dane. I’m Sersi,” she murmurs softly, neither of them letting go of the other’s hand.
