The little red grump who’d been living in Bang’s head rent free. Out of everyone back at the Department, why him? Boop, with his constant frown and those crossed arms and that death-glare that could shut down any attempt at conversation. The guy had mastered the art of the sigh. He scoffed at Bang’s “unbothered" attitude, rolled his eyes at his jokes, and acted like he had better places to be.
And still… he was always there.
He could’ve bounced anytime. Could’ve muttered a “boop boop” and taken the next tube out of HQ, no questions asked. But he didn’t. Even after brutal missions or days where everything went sideways, Boop stuck around. Sometimes without a word, just sitting next to Bang during his breaks, holding a cup of coffee like it was keeping him tethered to the planet. Other times, it was a slow back-and-forth—Bang tossing out nonsense, Boop pretending not to care… but still responding anyway.
And Bang noticed. Every single time.

Setting down his tools with a decisive clink, Blu crossed the room and planted himself firmly in front of Melvin. “Okay,” he declared, his voice firm and resolute, “that’s it. Break time.”
Melvin froze mid-motion, his claws still clutching the papers. He blinked at Blu, his expression a mix of confusion and mild panic. “Break time? What are you talking about? Blu, I have so many things to do! I can’t—”
Blu raised a claw, cutting him off before he could launch into another mile-a-minute protest. “No excuses. You’re doing everything but resting, Melvin, and it’s not sustainable. So here’s what’s going to happen. You’re going to sit down, and you’re going to do nothing for exactly twenty minutes. No coffee, no papers, no tasks. I’ll even set a timer to make sure you stick to it.”

The sight of a solitary tumbleweed rolling through the space highlighted the absence of any other signs of life. The air was unusually cold and quiet, a sharp contrast to the usual lively environment of the department. No StoryBots were in sight; they had either sought shelter in abandoned pipelines or been captured by the viruses.
The origin of the virus that breached the computer remained a mystery to all StoryBots. Thanks to the efforts of the Security Department's anti-malware programs and vigilant StoryBots, the computer usually fends off any virus intrusion. However, this particular virus posed a formidable challenge for the Security Team, leading the StoryBots to evacuate to stay safe.
Within the department, a multitude of malware roamed, relentlessly seeking to convert any remaining StoryBots into their own. Yet, unbeknownst to these intruders, a small yellow StoryBot donning a silver pot on its head skillfully concealed itself behind crates. It cautiously emerged from its hiding spot now and then, ensuring the surroundings were free from danger.

Bang groaned in frustration as he lay flat on his bed, staring up at the bland ceiling. He couldn't shake off this inexplicable feeling of discomfort that had been plaguing him all day. He racked his brain, trying to recall the events of yesterday's mission, wondering if he had caught something. But his mind was too foggy to concentrate.
"This bites..." he muttered to himself, tossing and turning in bed, unable to find a comfortable position. Just as he was about to give up on sleep altogether, he heard a frantic knocking on his door. He rolled his eyes, expecting yet another stubborn StoryBot to barge into the wrong room and claim it as their own. But then he heard a voice he recognized.
"Bang? Are you in there?" Beep's voice called out.

Doink grabbed the paper but it was snatched by Dink. The paper had ‘Spend Valentine’s Day together’ written with a red pen. On the back side there were coordinates. They both raised an eyebrow.
“What do you mean by this?” Dink asked
“Exactly what you think it means.” The boss pointed at the two employees, “You two have always made your missions absolutely useless because of your bickering. It’s time for that to change.” She took a deep breath, “That’s why I want you to head to the Answer Department and go to their annual Valentine's Dance to solve your issues. I already told them you two are going.”

Head engineer of the, uh, Fun Fact Department.” He pointed to his friend, “And this is Fred. He’s my assistant. He helps me with various things around the department.” Fred waved.
Fred then tugged on Franklin’s arm and whispered something to him. “Oh, it’s getting late! Sorry for distracting you. People normally get home from 6-9pm so I’m keeping you waiting.” The green StoryBot apologized.
Ada waved it off, “No, it’s okay! It was nice meeting you. You said you’re in the Fun Fact Department, right? Do you also get off at Five o’clock?” They asked to which Franklin nodded in response. “Do you wanna, get some coffee or something after work?”

Boop didn’t even look up. His claw had already found its way to a familiar, crinkly bag of plain potato chips—the kind he always grabbed when he didn’t feel like making a decision. “[I don’t care… just pick something,]” he muttered, flat as ever. The kind of flat that meant do not ask me again.
He never really understood the obsession with sweets. Donuts was fine, occasionally—but only when paired with black coffee strong enough to punch him in the throat. And tonight was definitely not one of those sweet-craving nights.
Bang, completely undeterred, continued rolling along the aisle, eyes darting like a kid in a toy store. The candy section practically sparkled under the lights, and every shiny wrapper seemed to whisper, pick me, pick me. His gaze locked on a rainbow bag of Giggles and a classic chocolate bar, and he skidded to a dramatic stop.
“Ooh! Giggles and JibJabs! Dude, how am I supposed to choose?” he groaned, holding both up like he was weighing his future in the balance. “Candy or chocolate…?”

Bo barely had time to respond before Jane grabbed her arm with a quick, excited tug, pulling her up from the log like she’d been waiting all night to do just that.
Bo stumbled a little, her claws instinctively reaching out for balance—but she followed. Of course she did. Jane’s energy had this way of catching her off guard and sweeping her along before she could overthink it. And she always overthought things.
“Y-Yeah,” she said with a breathy laugh, her voice shaky but genuine. “Let’s go.”
Jane let out a triumphant whoop and grabbed her backpack, tossing it over one shoulder with effortless ease.
Then, just as they turned to leave, she said it—quietly, like an afterthought. “You know… this is actually my first time watching a meteor shower with someone.”
