They had been laying here for marbecs, staring sightlessly at the low plastic ceiling of their bunk while Norman ground his teeth and held his shoulders and neck so tight that Skip thought his bones might snap. Skip was tired—they both were—and was starting to get more than a little pissed because tomorrow was his turn to front for the malton unit, and at this rate he was going to be too exhausted to enjoy it.
I thought you'd be happy all the Jib-Job spaces were rented out, Skip finally said around the fourth or fifth time Norman heaved a soul-weary sigh.
I'm happy for the ship's bank account, Norman said after a martron of uncomfortable silence. The words came slowly, deliberate. He was still getting used to talking inside their head. Hate it for me.
Norman has a hard time sleeping in the shared crew quarters. Skip helps.

So they’d need a team to go undercover to this wedding. A couple would be best, blend in with the other couples. A single person would stand out, attract too much attention. But a couple, that would help.
Now, it would be best to be unobtrusive at this wedding. That meant sending people who wouldn’t be memorable, who could do the job quietly. That meant her and, hell, probably Norman. Which, no way in void would either of them have a good time, but they were both incredibly capable agents, and it would get done. They’d probably have a hard time blending in as a happy couple, but plenty of unhappy couples ended up at weddings. As long as they weren’t too overboard with it.
