Summary
Jun has never mentioned the kittens, and there’s no way he would have not mentioned them if he’d seen them. It was Jun’s weakness for small cute things that lured first him, then Wonwoo, into cat rescue and TNR in the first place. This pair is ridiculously adorable.
(It’s a long November in New York during the pandemic. Wonwoo, Junhui, Soonyoung, and Jihoon are rescuing street cats and doing their best to get by.)

“Is that a hickey?” He’s pointing at Soonyoung’s neck with a pursed look of scrutinization. All three of their heads whip towards Soonyoung, and he’d laugh at their uniformity—still in sync even nearly a decade since their high school dance team—if he wasn’t busy being mortified. His hand comes up to slap at the spot of his neck, wincing at himself for not realizing.
Stupid Jeon Wonwoo. He knows not to leave marks. Not when Soonyoung’s job is to literally appear on live television.

Summary
An aghast look flashes on Soonyoung’s face, and he shakes his head vehemently. “No way—there’s no way he’d be into me.”
His friends exchange a look. A beat passes. Jun turns back to him, a weird expression on his face. “Soonyoung,” he starts, slowly and carefully, “You’re the captain of the cheer team.”
“And he’s the leader of the gaming club,” Soonyoung says glumly into his rice. “We have nothing in common."
Soonyoung is eighteen, in love, and it's awful.

Summary
Soonyoung and Wonwoo have been mortal enemies since the two of them had barely even stepped foot into high school, all because Soonyoung knows that Wonwoo's the reason that the school council never accepts Soonyoung's proposal for a dance club. All he's ever wanted is to get back at Wonwoo, once and for all.
Somehow that happens to be in the form of slipping fake secret admirer notes into Wonwoo's locker, and Soonyoung thinks it's the best idea in the world.
That is, until the things he writes stop feeling quite so fake after all.

“Does it feel weird not being around Wonwoo?” Chan asks one day after a rehearsal. They’re sitting outside a convenience store, eating different forms of ice cream and popsicles.
“What do you mean?” Soonyoung says, crunching through his waffle cone.
“Like, you guys are attached at the hip.”
“I think I can live without him for a couple of weeks, Channie.”
“Sure. Maybe by then you’ll stop being oblivious asshats around each other too,” Channie says back, making Minghao snort and Jun giggle which— what the fuck?

In which Soonyoung finds love in a hopeless place.
Not really, he's just running late on one particular day and has to enter a battlefield, also known as, Japan's railway morning rush, when he finds himself utterly and irrevocably whipped for a stranger he meets inside a very, very crowded train.

Summary
As far as being an uncle went, Wonwoo liked to think that he was good at it. He's tempted to make the jump and say he was really good, but he doubted he met any of the critiques to support it. In any case, Jinsook had never once called him stupid head, and Wonwoo valued that more than his architecture degree sometimes.

Summary
It's kind of a paradox, really: they're both wholly averse to love, but also half in love with each other.
(Soonyoung is the complete opposite of Wonwoo, but he's a pretty good roommate. Anything more with him, though, would be messy. And to Wonwoo's credit, he actually lasts a surprising amount of time before he feels the ground give out from underneath him and falls.)

Summary
"Why didn't you ever think about being an artist?"
Wonwoo's eyebrows furrow. "Where'd that come from?"
"You really do think of people - or at least me - as art. And you're so good at analysing it. Or at least, you love it."
"I'm no artist. You're just beautiful, and you're mine. Admiring you and all the things you do is the best part of this," Wonwoo says so candidly, so earnest and honest, and Soonyoung feels an ache in his chest. Not heartache. A soft ache, the kind you get from eating one too many sweets.
"Fuck."
"Hm?"
"I'm so in love with you. It's actually disgusting."
Wonwoo beams like the sun, elbowing him. "Me too."
five times that Soonyoung's able to let Wonwoo know just how much he adores him, and one time that Wonwoo steers the wheel.

Summary
It's hard for Soonyoung to pinpoint which came first: the butterflies in his stomach or the goose.
Soonyoung should be happy when he realizes that his soulmate is his best friend, except he has enough things to worry about, such as whether his best friend really loves him back, or whether he can kiss people with braces on, or whether his goose will stop pecking at his leg hair every morning. You know, just normal teenager things.

"Why- why did you do that?"
Soonyoung hesitates a little. See, he's always known that Wonwoo's handsome. It's just something that the world objectively agrees on, because Wonwoo is beautiful and he does beautiful things like reading books while sunlight streams in through the window and illuminates him, like playing with cats with the biggest smile on his face, like calmly helping Soonyoung with literally anything he asks.
So Soonyoung doesn't really think he has a proper reason as to why he kissed Wonwoo, other than: "You looked pretty."
Wonwoo ducks his head a little bit, clearly flustered, which sort of delights Soonyoung. "Okay. So, are we, like. Dating now?"
"Um. We could be."
"Okay. Cool."
"Cool!"
One impulsive kiss is all it takes for Wonwoo and Soonyoung to suddenly start dating, and they navigate their way through this new tide of their relationship in the clumsiest yet most natural way they know how.

wherein soonyoung learns how to love wonwoo in the most intricate languages he has ever known.
“We open the halves of a miracle, and a clotting of acids brims into the starry divisions: creation's original juices, irreducible, changeless, alive: so the freshness lives on in a lemon, in the sweet-smelling house of the rind, the proportions, arcane and acerb.” –– Pablo Neruda

Soonyoung wonders when the notions of yours and mine began to feel arbitrary. All around him, he only sees us, ours.
God, how corny. It sounds like something out of those dramas Mingyu keeps recommending to him. But that’s what love feels like, right?

"Well, I love you the best out of anyone," Soonyoung says, filled-in brows furrowing with a need to make Wonwoo understand. What he’s supposed to be understanding is beyond him, at this point, but Soonyoung is insistent.
"What is that supposed to mean?” Wonwoo presses.
He’s sticking his hand into the tiger's den and waiting for a bite. Stupid.
