Please." Steve's smile had disappeared. He regarded Eddie carefully, and if Eddie wasn't completely mistaken, there was a tiny bit of longing in his gaze.

Eddie secretly envied Dustin for being such close friends with Steve. Dustin had discovered sides of him that Eddie would never have believed Steve had. Dustin probably knew Steve better than Steve himself sometimes. And Eddie was honestly kind of jealous about that. He would never tell Dustin, of course, but he also wanted to be such good friends with Steve.
Secretly, Eddie hoped that when all this crap with Vecna was over, that maybe Steve would want to be his friend. Something in Eddie believed that they could be really good friends.
