“I don’t know” Dark answered way too fast.
“What was that?”
“I—I don’t know!”

This is how Dark repays him, for pulling him away from the cruel hands of their creator. This is the price Dark willingly offers in return.
“Dark, you need to stop, you're going to go kill yourself.”
or
Dark represses his mission code for Chosen’s sake, just so that he won't kill the only person he cared about, even though he's slowly destroying himself.
Was daring to defy his purpose a grave enough sin to condemn him to this?
