“Look, I voted against telling you. But Alex seems to think it would be mean to leave you out of research you worked on. I know you don’t share that sentiment, Piastri."
Or: There's a black hole in the centre of the Earth. Oscar Piastri is a Nobel-decorated physicist, with nothing to show for it but an addiction to cigarettes and a ring without a finger to put it on. These two things have more in common than one might think.

To be seen is to be explored, to be explored is to be named. And to be named is to be human and to be human is to be loved. So maybe it is a story about space, then. If space is named is human is loved, then this story is about space, because at its event horizon, that’s what this story is about. Humans, and exploration, and love.

Summary
It’s under-exposed and grainy, clearly caught with frantic hands before either of them had the chance to notice the phone camera pointed at them. Just barely discernible in the low light, Oscar is leaning against the wall outside some nondescript building in Monaco with his head thrown back, laughing in that stupid, exaggerated way he always seems to when Lando Norris is involved. Lando’s not fully facing the camera, but his hair and side profile give him away. He’s pressing a kiss to the corner of Oscar’s mouth, one hand tangled in the hair at the back of his neck while the other rests on his waist. It is, unfortunately, the kind of photo a person could stare at forever. Tangible evidence of a life well-lived and well-loved.
OR: Oscar and Lando get outed, and the world keeps turning.

Lando, bold motherfucker that he is, reaches over and takes Oscar’s hand. It feels a little bit revolutionary. “Sure, I’m Lando Norris and I drive for McLaren.” Oscar zones out a bit listening to the automated introduction he’s heard various versions of a thousand times. Lando rattles off all kinds of bouncy little anecdotes and fun facts about himself and his career—all of them interesting, none of them new. But then, with a smile that seems entirely involuntary, he adds, “And, uh, I am… dating Oscar Piastri.”
His voice bleeds with joy, and he has this wide-eyed ‘can you believe that?’ look on his face that Oscar recognizes from months of making it himself. It’s all kinds of intoxicating.
Lando Norris ought to have come with a warning label, Oscar thinks. His first day at McLaren should’ve begun with a soft-spoken legal representative—probably not Aisha—giving him a long list of disclaimers. May cause romanticism, insanity, nausea, complete life upheaval, vertigo, etc. Though unlikely, exposure can become addictive. In rare cases of prolonged close proximity, happily ever after may occur. Sign on the dotted line to assume all associated risks. Call your fucking doctor.
