Summary
Ryland was a scientist, okay? It was his passion and his job and his hobby all rolled into one, and while he would always be a teacher first, science was in his blood. Rocky was the same way; they both couldn't help themselves when it came to learning new things about each other's worlds.
It had been a week since Simon had showed up, unannounced and unexplained, and Ryland thought that if he went another day without being able to ask Simon about the things growing from his skin, he was going to lose his gosh-darn mind.

He stared up at the person above him. No. Not person. The angel above him, lit with stunning white light, brighter than Simon had seen in years, with clean blond hair, the only spot on his entire form the blood on his hands from touching Simon.
"Is alive!" The mechanical voice chirped the words from beyond Simon's line of sight; all he could see was the brightly lit angel standing above him.
"Oh god," the angel whispered, "oh god oh god oh god...."

"Ryland Grace was not a brave man.
Curious? Yes.
Cocky? Definitely.
Kind? Sure.
But he was not brave.
Yet when Mary hailed a message to him and Rocky whilst they were in the “Don’t go crazy” VR room; “Blip E on radar, Dr. Grace.” Of course he had to be brave and check it out. As he and Rocky raced towards the cockpit, they looked towards the camera, and the sight caught all the words Grace wanted to say in his throat.
