Summary
When the very fabric of existence is threatened by two renegade angels marching toward a church in New Jersey, the Metatron is sent to Earth with a clear mission: to recruit God's chosen one. He expected devotion, tears, and awe. What he gets is a face full of fire extinguisher foam courtesy of Eleonor, a short-tempered, foul-mouthed woman with zero patience for celestial theatrics.
With no prophets or forgotten apostles to help them, the "Voice of God" and his infuriating chosen one are forced to cross the country on foot, sleeping at grimy bus stops and occasionally hot-wiring beat-up cars to stay off the divine and infernal radar. To Metatron, Eleonor is just an unbearably irresponsible human who tests his millennia of patience with every mile.
What the exhausted angel doesn't know is that her cynicism hides the real reason she was chosen: Eleonor is one of the last living Nephilim. She couldn't care less about Heaven's politics, but she carries in her blood the exact power needed to shut the church doors and stop Bartleby and Loki.
