She's tinkering with droids again.
He feels her elation as she finds the right point on the circuit, watches the droid whir to life, bleeping its gratitude. She has a whole little family of them now. Droids with loyalty so fierce he wonders if all creatures sentient – and not – are bound to worship her. He is losing himself in her and he knows he needs to stop.
Kylo Ren is Bound to Rey and hides from her, never revealing himself, quietly driving himself mad with her light.

“I— I’ll do anything,” Rey blurts, feeling desperation take over belligerence. “Don’t let him die.”
“There’s nothing you can offer.” Kylo's face softens into something that looks almost like pity. Rey thinks she likes that even less than his anger.
Technically, he’s right. She’s already agreed to stay on this Destroyer, to be taught, to work under his tutelage. But this is Finn. Her first friend. The one who came back for her when no one else had.
And Rey has noticed the way that Kylo watches her sometimes, when he thinks that she doesn't see. The way that he blatantly won't look at her when she's recently out of the 'fresher, or the way that he scrambled to cover her with his cloak when her shirt was once torn during a training exercise. “That’s not true,” she says, hands starting to shake. She still has one final card to play.

Rey shouldn’t think about him, let alone miss him, but she does.
Three months have passed since the Battle of Crait and yet, the inner conflict that breathes within her still burns.
She can’t quite figure out this entire Jedi business, nor can she quite resist reaching out to him even though they’re on different sides in the war. The distance of time and space between them should be enough proof of that, but still, Rey can’t ignore the pull between him and her.
She should have known that nothing could really separate them. She would be an idiot to try it anyway.
After all, through the Force bond that they share, they are one.

“What’s going to happen to me?” she whispered. Pain flashed in his eyes for a split second before he broke her gaze and turned away.
“Yours will be the final execution.”
Rey’s heart sank into her stomach. She didn’t know what else she expected, but it still hurt to hear the words spoken aloud. Her eyes bore into the side of Kylo’s head, but he responded only by standing up and turning his entire body to face away from her.
“You don’t even have the guts to face me while you deliver my death sentence.”
Kylo stopped moving, his body visibly tense, but he didn’t turn around. “I don’t owe you anything,” he said quietly.
“Don’t worry,” she responded coldly, “I’ve stopped expecting anything.”

The Resistance has been captured. The execution dates are set. The story should end there.
