Murphy's not known for his great decision making skills. No, in fact, he's known for the opposite: making the absolute worst decisions for himself, consistently. But this time he's not thinking about himself. It's someone else he makes this dumbass decision for. It's Bellamy he makes this decision for.
And that leaves the two of them stranded on a planet getting consumed by a radioactive death storm.
Typical.
If anyone could get that result out of trying to save someone, it would be Murphy.

Murphy didn’t realise what Bellamy was doing until they were a month into their relationship. He had been sat in his tent, looking through an old book he found, when Bellamy had dumped another plate on food down next to him. This was the third plate in the last hour. It wasn’t particularly full, just a handful of berries and a piece of dry bread, but the offer still made him frown.

And their eyes are pitying now instead of disgusted by his scars."
After nearly killing himself with his own magic as a child, Dabi has been ostracized and alone for a decade. When he is chosen to be given to the forest god as a sacrifice, it seems fitting. He was not expecting to meet the god and find out that the ritual he is supposedly helping to uphold is a carefully crafted lie and that the monster always offers a different choice to the sacrifices instead.

"But it's been getting to be a little more and a little more regular." She pulls a packet of sour candy from her bag and offers it to Duster. "People ask about seeing you guys on it too." A leading tone in her voice. Shigaraki considers her for a moment and then sighs, taking the candy.
