Summary
Dan Heng has been the servant of Lord Taoran for many years. One day, he meets a mysterious man in the woods. He later finds out the mysterious man is actually the striking and dashingly handsome Prince Ren.
The prince takes an interest in him, and invites Dan Heng to his royal masquerade ball.
Taoran is keen to prevent Dan Heng from meeting the prince once more. Luckily, Dan Heng might have a little extra help to get to the ball ;)

Summary

Dan Heng is about to call him a jackass when there’s the rumble of an engine approaching. Low and deep, like it’s vibrating through the blacktop under his scuffed up chucks. Something dark and dangerous that he feels before he hears and hears before he sees.
Whatever sound this was was the same their ancestors heard huddled in caves thousands of years ago, wolves at the edges of their fires unseen and waiting to feast. There is a predator in their midst, and everyone here is in danger of being eaten alive.

He doesn’t understand why Ren likes to bother him so much. Or well, he does have a slight suspicion, but it’s one he refuses to acknowledge. From the first time they met, the prince has had a strange obsession with him, turning up to the library to just stare at him with intense red eyes as he works. If it wasn't for his position as Dan Heng’s prince he would’ve kicked the man out of the library a long time ago.
Crossing his arms, Dan Heng stares up at the prince defiantly, hoping that the man will get the message and leave him alone.
To his dismay, Ren just chuckles quietly, a hand coming up to caress his jaw. Dan Heng flinches at the touch, his wayward heart racing at the intensity of Ren’s gaze.
