Decades. He'd wasted decades of his life doing what? Chasing the minuscule sparks of passion to ease the aching void in his chest? Wasn't there something better? Someone to guide him away from the misery? Distract him from the life he couldn't escape from?
There were days he didn't know which way was up and where the sea began. Where the skies collided with the dirt and delved into the inferno of the hells. The whispers of creatures that should have had no interest in a mortal caressing the shell of his ears. Beings he believed to be just as mortal as himself and if one observed their flaws they might have been. Walking the city grounds and sailing the oceans like any other. Blockades of fire and ice preventing their immortal hands from intertwining. Now he balanced atop their walls. Grabbing both with shaky arms and pulling them close.

Val (Reader) knew what she was getting into doing this. It wasn't the first and she doubted it'd be the last. So why was she nervous? There was no reason to be. A long past war has left the world in fragments as chunks fell beneath raging waters, cities destroyed, and lives lost. Solaris was among them, forever trapped in the past as the rightful successor was knocked aside by a man corrupted by greed. His vile tongue forced his towering city further into the pits of despair, yet that is all they know. All they are allowed to bear witness to.
The child's legacy lay forgotten and ignored after his father's death. His fingers grasped at strings that only wound tighter around his throat, desperate to reclaim what was rightfully his even as the light dwindled from his eyes and victory seemed to float further away.
All are ignorant of the world surrounding them and are fed sweetened lies. Questions met with blood-tainted threats; there is no escape. Recovery is believed to be impossible, unaware of those who thrive in far-off lands. Yet, when three newcomers arrive to fight in hell's arena, the boy's world is forever changed. And hope may finally reignite the heart of the cold, long-lost city.

In this AU, William Afton is a brilliant engineer, and owner of a strip-club/brothel that supplies animatronics with extraordinarily advanced AI, that one could almost say is sentient.
Sentient enough to revolt and escape.This was written to assit me with coping with trauma, so of course everyone I love in this franchise must suffer. First few chapters are very dark, but things do get better.
