Summary
Cloud Strife was the outcast of Nibelheim by virtue of the fact that he dared to exist. It’s only when resident village storyteller, his Mama, made the mistake of telling the tale of the mythical wolf Fenrir, did general indifference toward the Strife boy become outright disdain.
Because that’s when his fascination with wolves became an obsession.
And for a while, Cloud was okay with that. He had something else to focus on. Even if his excitement made the adults scoff at him, or the children snicker, or Tifa even more embarrassed to be around him, he didn’t care.
He had the stories. He had wolves. He had his Mama. What else would he need?
He was fine.
…
At least, until he met Sephiroth.
Then, he realized there might be more to life beyond mere contentment.
