He was all of this and more. Some say his downfall began when he was crowned King, a title he was never meant to inherit. A title wrongly given to him. Others say it was when he butchered his first wife in childbed, all for the hopes of a son who lived for an hour. Some say that it was when he married the daughter of a landless second son after being caught abed, siring a child out of wedlock (supposedly). Most agree, though, that it was when he disinherited his pure-blooded daughter for his son.

“Laena?” Daemon’s voice was barely above a whisper, disbelief etched into every line of his face.
Rhaenyra’s eyes widened, her hand dropping from Daemon’s arm as she took a step back.
Laena stood there, her hair still wild and her clothes charred but unmistakably alive. “Yes,” she said, her voice carrying through the hall. “It is I.”
The room erupted into chaos, voices overlapping as people scrambled to understand what they were seeing. Daemon pushed through the crowd, his face pale as he reached for her. “How?” he breathed.
She didn’t answer, her gaze flickering briefly to Rhaenyra before settling back on Daemon. “I don’t know,” she admitted. “But I am here. And I will not be forgotten.”
The same night, far away in Harrenhal, another fire burned.
Harwin Strong emerged from the ashes, his body battered but alive, his first thought of his sons and the woman he had loved but never truly claimed.
“Rhaenyra,” he murmured, his voice hoarse.
The gods, it seemed, were not yet done with the lives they had claimed.

"Who the hell did I piss off to become her? The Black Queen?" My words were almost a growl as I gripped the edges of the vanity, the cold metal biting into my fingers.
That's right. One moment, I was just me, heading home after another long day, and the next... a car came out of nowhere. I don’t even remember the impact, not really. It was too fast. No flashes of light, no angelic choirs—just darkness. And then I was here.

I wrote this as a combination of two other fics.
"Little Cages, Silent Screams" by writer AnnVolh
and
"Who did I piss off to end up as The Black Queen?" by writer kurenohikariEnjoyed both fics, though I did have problems with how AnnVolh handled Rhaenyra and how kurenohikari handled Alicent.
So in an attempt to "fix" what I saw could have been handled better, I duck taped the best parts of both fics, badly.Series
