"Why are you here?" he asks, finally.
Scar merely smiles. "I missed you."
"No," Grian immediately denies. "You didn't."
The red eyes narrow, and Scar tilts his head to the side. "How come?"
"You know why."
Based on the way the red eyes relax slightly, Grian knows Scar knows. Anyone who isn't absolutely mental would.
After all, a hunter can never love its prey.
OR:
Grian is a vampire hunter. Him and Scar were in a loving relationship, until Grian found out Scar was a vampire. Months later, Grian finds him waiting in his apartment.

Summary
Scar and Grian haven't spoken since their relationship ended in a misunderstanding neither of them ever bothered to fix. Grian threw himself into work at the hospital, while Scar kept risking his life as a police officer.
When fate keeps throwing an injured Scar onto Grian's operating table, old feelings prove much harder to ignore than either of them expected. But after it turns into something far more serious, they're forced to confront the words left unsaid, the fears they never shared, and whether love is worth a second chance.
Sometimes it takes the fear of almost losing someone to realize you never really let them go.

Wings twitched. Posture straightened. Ears burned bright red. If Scar didn’t know any better, it could have been construed as interest being piqued. And if on cue, the Phantom muttered under his breath, “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” Scar echoed, “If you’re so curious, I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.”
He had said it as a joke, but as seconds ticked by, it became clear that it hadn’t been heard that way. In fact, even with a mask in the way, it really looked like the avian was deeply considering the offer. Curiosity greater than his prudeness.
