The problem is, she can’t remember if that’s true.An Ivy League paleobiology university student, Y/n L/n, wakes aboard the Hail Mary with fragmented memories, a cryptic warning stuffed in her pocket, and only two companions lightyears from Earth: an alien who thinks emotional breakdowns are "advanced mating rituals", and Dr. Grace, the scientist from aboard the boat she can't remember why she's wary of.
OR! Reader wakes up on board the Hail Mary with scattered memories, all of which makes her distrustful of Ryland until she learns the truth aboard the ship. She wasn't supposed to be there. Her professor was, and yet, her and Ryland are all that remains aboard the ship. Cue the investigation and feelings forming against their will!

After the success of the Hail Mary mission, Earth sends a foul-mouthed astro-anthropologist to study Erid. She discovers a very-much-still-alive Ryland Grace. Slow burn mutual pining ensues. Will eventually be explicit, but... did I mention the slow burn?
