Summary
Six months after the city was saved from The Absolute, Enna Audacia, former Paladin Knight of The Order of Holy Blood and proclaimed Savior of Baldur's Gate, is missing. In the aftermath of The Absolute’s defeat, political opponents of Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard plot to seize his power by enacting a call for his removal from office due to his prior endorsement of Gortash. A hearing about his removal is to be held, one which could be swayed greatly by testimony from Enna. When those closest to her reunite after saving the Sword Coast together, none are more distraught about her disappearance nor more determined to find her than Gale Dekarios of Waterdeep, the wizard who once loved her but ultimately broke her heart. When he does manage to find her, Enna has had all of her memory wiped by a magical force. With the hearing looming, Gale must find a way to restore her memories to save the city from further turmoil, but to do so he must confront his past mistakes and overcome his guilt. But he cannot lose hope. Enna never once gave up on Gale and now it is his turn to return the favor.

She narrowed her eyes at him.
“You know how pacts work, don’t you? You like to make deals. I will make you a deal. You give me the gloves, and I will give you whatever you like,” he said. The side of her mouth twitched. She did like when he begged. Almost as much as she liked the unnecessary firmness of his hand on hers as he prevented her from completing her task. Her jaw clenched at that thought, and she wrenched her hand away from him.

In which a cruel and embittered warlock's tale of vengeance is disrupted by tadpoles and distracted by a charming wizard. After initially extorting him with magical items to assist her in a sidequest involving various hags and fey, she learns that she may also have a more efficient way to help with his orb problem. Unfortunately, this grows more complicated by the day, and Gale realizes that the warlock is not as cruel as she would like to be. (Or, Gale likes cats, and I decided to give him one.)
